LEMON LAWS

No one wants a lemon car.

It should be easy for all consumers to get a refund or a replacemet for a vehicle that is not safe, realiable or easy to fix.

It is because of the  lack of clear definitions and time frames as to when a problematic new car should be replaced or refunded is why we at Lemon Laws 4 Aus is campaigning to to have motor vehicle lemon laws included as part of our Australian Consumer Laws.

AFFORDABLE JUSTICE

A motor vehicle will, for a lot of people, be the most expensive purchase they will make in their life time after a home.  It shouldn't cost the consumer tens of thousands of dollars trying to battle it out with the supplier in the court room, nor should legal representation cost nearly as much or more than what the car is worth. Anyhow who needs the emotional and financial burden or loose precious time out of their lives for a lemon car?

We understand most families can't afford to take on the big corporations so by including Motor Vehicle Lemon Laws in our legislation it will remove the arguable 'grey area'. When the 'grey area' is removed then the supplier is more likely to want to resolve the issue before it gets to the court room or the civil tribunals.

As we are wanting more affordable justice for all, we are also lobbying to remove any limits that may be set at civil tribunals and the like.

CONSUMER EDUCATION

Do you know about the Consumer Guarantees or what to do should a supplier refuse to abide by the legislated rights of the consumer?

Lemon Laws 4 Aus wants more people to be aware of their consumer guarantees and where they can go if they they require assistance in resolving a consumer dispute.

Not only do we provide helpful tips, information and news, we are also endeavouring to help get this information out there to more people.

We believe the federal, state and territory governments could do more to better inform Australians about their consumer rights.

With knowledge we can help drive change.
